Have you reminded your EU staff that they have less than a week to apply for settled or pre-settled status?

Under the (relatively) new immigration rules, all EU citizens who want to remain here must have been on UK soil by 11pm on 31 December 2020 and have applied for settled or pre-settled status by 30 June 2021. Anyone who remains in the UK after that date may be considered an illegal immigrant and could lose their right to work, obtain a tenancy agreement, open a bank account or obtain NHS treatment.

With less than a week to go, we recommend that you make sure that your EU staff are aware of the deadline and what might happen if they miss it. The rules apply to both them and their dependents.

The government has a toolkit which includes a factsheet, leaflet and posters. We've also created a letter that you can send to remind staff of the deadline and a factsheet which explains how to apply. Both documents are available free of charge for our IMhr plus clients. Please contact Padma Tadi if you'd like a copy of either document.
