BPF Manifesto reveals 16,000 Build to Rent homes in the pipeline

The BPF have published their Build to Rent manifesto, available through bpf.org.uk.

Alongside encouraging statistics (and a rather cool map) on the scale of private rented development in London and the major cities (where need is most acute) there is clearly an interest in encouraging local authorities outside of London to use joint ventures, restrictive covenants, clawback, and rental sharing to encourage the use of council land for Build to Rent developments.

It also calls for reducing the VAT charged on property refurbishment and reforms to enable REITs to be used as a vehicle for holding private rented units.

"Our manifesto for Build to Rent highlights how this vital sector delivers housing supply, improves renting for tenants, and support local and central government."”
