DCLG local plan panel: Call for evidence

The Local Plans Expert Group, which was created by Brandon Lewis last month, is seeking views from the development industry on how best to reform the local plan process.

The call for evidence was opened today and closes on Friday 23 October 2015.

The issues being considered are:

  • The content of local plans
  • The preparation process
  • How strategic requirements are agreed
  • The implementation of local plans
  • How the current system is working in practice

If you have recent experience of promoting sites through the local plan process; or any suggestions on how the process can be improved, DCLG would like to hear from you.

The Thomas Eggar planning team is currently debating just how many representations will suggest scrapping the duty to co-operate and re-introducing regional planning strategies...

On 15 September 2015 Housing and Planning Minister Brandon Lewis launched a panel of experts to examine what measures or reforms may be helpful in ensuring the efficient and effective production of local plans.

The panel has now met for the first time and decided to invite views from the planning and property industry, local government and other partners to assist its consideration of the issues. ”
